Virtual NECC09 Participation: Twitter, Streaming Schedules, SL

Well, hold on to your keyboard, and away we go. Virtual NECC is on fire, and blazing a rapid and fast trail. Even after getting up early this morning to track events and follow the streaming, I am overwhelmed to say the least. I had to turn tweet-deck off for a bit and gather a better strategy for following this virtually.

To begin with Twitter seems to be the most active place for following persons reactions, ideas and thoughts about the different conferences. Using Tweetdeck you can enter many search columns and follow different keywords for the event. The most popular and hardest to follow is #NECC09. What I highly recommend here is that you identify the key words of your interest area, and follow those. For example, my interest area is centered around ivc (interactive video conferencing) and I know that there is a group of #necc09iVC that I keep track of. Much smaller audience and more direct to what I am wanting to learn about and connect with.

The next stop is to see what is on the streaming channels. Isteconnects has the schedule up (I am not sure how I missed it before) and you can plan a bit ahead to see what you want to watch and of course the twitter/ chat on the side is great. It does give a wonderful feel for being able to be their virtually. I have not see anything on istevision yet. But I could be missing it.

Over in SecondLife, Scott Merrick has voice streaming going on as well as the schedule posted. I will be docent later in the day and will be able to check out more details about what is happening in second life in the upcoming blog.

Again if you have more suggestions about how you may be following virtually, chime in.
