About Me:
Tim Chase is a full-time, in-the-trenches classroom teacher. He taught the first three of his ten years of teaching at a teacher's institute in central China, and the last seven have been in beautiful central Oregon where he lives with his wife, Janet, and three children. Tim serves on the leadership team of Oregon’s EdTech Professional Development Cadre and is also a leader for the Central Oregon Educational Technology Team.
Passionate about infusing technology into his own teaching and providing opportunity for his students to learn with technology, Tim is an enthusiastic promoter of EdTech in his school, in his district, and throughout Oregon.
Hi Tim, We've been having some of the same conversations here. We talked about this before this year's NECC and decided to keep the old content because Ning's only two options would be starting a completely new Ning or deleting everything (wish there was an archive option!). Which do you think would be the better option?
Tim - I'm an avid ballroom dancer (latin, american smooth, you name it). While I'm not at NECC this year :( I plan to be next - and perhaps at other national Ed Tech events. We should definitely stay in touch. The more dancers the better!
You have nice variety in your teaching day! Although my epals club was fun, the students in China didn't write very often and it was a little frustrating for my students and then, for some reason, the teacher I was working with (his wife's students corresponded with mine) stopped responding. I heard that Internet connections in China became very limited when there were protests about Tibet, and then there was the earthquake. I ended up turning the club into more of a China research club, teaching the kids to make webpages about China and then taking a field trip to Chinatown in Portland. It wasn't what we had in mind, but it still ended up being interesting and fun for the kids.
Hi Tim,
I attended the NCCE conference in Portland a few years ago, but I'm not a member of a group right now. I'll look into it and join, though. I'm interested in what you've been doing too. I had an afterschool E-pals club this past school year with 4th and 5th grade students corresponding with students in China. My son and husband went to China last summer with the orchestra that my son plays flute in. It sounds like we have similar goals re: integrating technology into all content areas. What grades do you teach?

I forgot you were the ballroom dancer I've met at ITSC the last couple of years. Have fun at NECC, and say hello to Kris and Diane for me.
