Revised Resources for SL Workshops and Birds Sessions

Hey all, at NECC09 I'm helping facilitate two 3-hour workshops on the topic of Second Life, a 3-day running Second Life Playground, and a SL Birds of a Feather. I'm also helping put together a BOF on the topic of my favorite new VW for kids, Quest Atlantis: I'll be a bizzy bee, for sure. All our workshop and session descriptions (one for absolute n00bs and one for experienced educators who want dedicated time to mess with presentation and teaching tools) are at the NECC program search results page and the playground description is here:

Second Life Playground
Monday, June 29, 8 am–4 pm; Tuesday, June 30, 9 am–4 pm; and Wednesday, July 1, 8 am–2 pm
Explore stations for creating avatars, navigating in Second Life, using Second Life for professional development, using Second Life with students, and exploring ISTE's Virtual island.
Coordinators: Lisa Linn, Temecula Valley Unified and Scott Merrick, University School of Nashville/Vanderbilt CSO

I've just this day set up Birds of a Feather resource walls at both http://wallwisher.com/wall/slbirds and http://wallwisher.com/wall/qa birds. This is a tool I've just discovered and I hope it will serve us well! If you are interested in sharing anything about either topic, this is the place to do so.

I'll also suggest that, especially if you aren't going to be in our fair capitol that week, you check out the Group Virtual NECCers and Steve H.'s NECCUnPlugged.

New Separate SIG for Second Lifers in Education?

Hey all, I posted a typically rambling set of reflections at http://scottmerrick.blogspot.com/2009/07/on-mall-on-4th-of-july.html on the 4th, and if you're a SLer, a irl ISTE member, and an educator, I'd be eternally grateful for your take on it. Thanks!

Hey ya'll,

It's heating up! I'll see you at NECC and inworld and all over the place. I just started a group called the Second Life Playground for all of you, at ISTE's request, and there's a link there to the playground wiki (offsite) with information about the schedule. Please note that while signups for presentations are open at the ISTEvisions signup page, presenters need to… Continue

Thanks in advance and I'm soooo looking forward to NECC09!!!

YAY! I'm BAAAAACK!

Yippee. I finally figured out how I'd messed up my ning login and I'm a-back in bizzness here. I'm so excited about NECC09, presenting two 3 hour workshops (filling up fast) and co-facilitating two Birds of a Feather and the (all 3 days this year!) Second Life Playground! I'll be a bizzy bee in D.C. (that's a happy little poem!)!!! More here soon.

Woowooooo! I've just printed my A group boarding pass for tomorrow a.m.'s flight to San Antonio. Lovin' it! All packed, but now I need to get my carry-on organized (LOL--as if).

Cheers!

I LOVE the "Latest Activity" sidebar feature. It's so heartening to refresh the page and see activity that I just added has disappeared in the course of minutes as new colleagues in teaching and learning add their own. This is a hoppin' place!

You should check out my book titled Moodle Magic: Make It Happen. I also have a session titled the same on Tuesday from 11-12. Join http://moodlemeet.ning.com
Use Global Classroom as your free hosting site for classroom creating, sharing, and swaping. I'll also be offering a year long Moodle Implementation course starting in July as a train the trainer idea.
I'd love to meet you at NECC.
