About Me:
I am a Computer Science teacher at a large elementary school in West Philadelphia. I just finished my second year teaching Computers and just completed my Instructional Technology Specialist Masters Degree. Before teaching computers I taught Science for 2 years (hands-on, inquiry-based). I LOVE teaching computers and I use a lot of project-based learning in my classroom to guide students in how to use the many tools available to them as software and online.

I am looking forward to my first NECC conference!

Hi, Mary Beth,
Hope you had a terrific experience at NECC09 and are enjoying a little R&R this summer.
Are you a teacher in a CFF school? Or a technology-training teacher?
If so, there is a free 10-hour summer workshop (for PA teachers only) starting Monday, July 6.
If you are interested in more info, please go to this wiki site from the PA Dept. of Ed. There are still a few places in the ePals section, with 10 credits under Act 48.
Registration and full details available at:

We think you ought to be in pictures!

Hello I’m Michael Roberts on staff at the International Society for Technology in Education. We are in the process of identifying ISTE members who’ll be at the National Education Computing Conference (NECC) , and would be available to have their picture take for marketing collateral, such as membership ads, promotions of webinars, the annual report—and many other print and web pieces.

We wanted to check to see if you are attending NECC, and if you’d be interested in being photographed. We’ll have a professional photographer set up to capture images Sunday June 28th through Tuesday July 1st.

Members who have posed for marketing collateral say it is great to have the recognition from their peers when ISTE materials arrive at school. If you’d like to see an example of how we use the photos, please visit the front page on iste.org—there you’ll see a web ad for NECC featuring three attendees from last year.

It should not take more than 10 minutes to shoot your portrait professionally. We hope you’ll consider participating. As a thank you, we’ll give a $5 Starbucks—plus you’ll have the chance to a face for ISTE in the coming year.

If you are willing to participate, please reply to this message (photo@iste.org.) Once we know you’re amendable, we’ll send out a selection of available slots for shooting, so you can pick a time that works best with your schedule.

The two requirements to be photographed are that you are a current ISTE member and you’re going to be onsite at NECC 2009.

Thank you for your time and consideration.

Michael

Hello Mary Beth !

Welcome to the ISTE NECC 2009 Ning! You are now an important member of a year round social network where educators can make plans for the upcoming conference and start discussions to continue on site as well as share tech ideas, resources, questions, and suggestions with other educators. If you can't attend the conference, you can still participate and find out what opportunities you can take advantage of without physically being there.

The forums are divided into general discussions and discussions specific to conference sessions, usually started by the presenters. There are over 90 groups ranging from ISTE affiliates and SIGs to groups discussing particular areas of ed tech as well as a NECC Newbie group.

Glad you joined us!
