Hello! I'm the designer of the software HyperStudio, and some very interesting things are happening with students uploading their projects on YouTube. Here is a video (http://bit.ly/Bfsfn) that was just posted on YouTube. It's a little long for the YouTube attention span of 3 minutes :), but watch all the different things going on.. synchronized animations, videos behind "masks", real-time narration as it was exported for YouTube...
You can do a search on YouTube for "RattlerPit", the nickname of the school that is doing these, to find other videos.
I am very interested to participate in this group with special regard to comments and ideas on the use of HyperStudio in digital storytelling. I'm still working on many features and aspects, and input on this particular use of the software would be very helpful to me and the students using it.
I'm happy to post new links here as I come across information and projects online.
We posted a Kids Talk Radio interview of Roger Wagner on YouTube and www.KidsTalkRadioLA.com. Roger was at the California CUE Conference. We are so happy
that Roger Wagner is back in action with Hyper Studio. I am a big Roger Wagner fan.
Thanks Bob! You got a a great "exclusive scoop" on that, with the only footage in the world of the HyperStudio Design Document! :) I hope to see you at NECC to show you even more new things!
Kaila Ponce, did a project called "Journey to the Center of the Earth" and the exported video took First place, Elementary Science, Multimedia Division, California Student Media Festival.
If you search for "Rattler Pit" (the nickname for the technology area on her school campus), or "HyperStudio" on YouTube you'll see a lot of other HyperStudio-created videos as well. For interesting digital storytelling techniques, be sure to look at the Medieval History project.
Oh, my Lois, you need to see the new version. It is fast, fun, and so powerful. Perfect for digital storytelling as well as so many other classroom curricular projects. Stop by the Digital Arts Playground and try it out while you're at NECC

I just posted some links on the main wall here where you can see some screen-captures of a graphic novel made with HyperStudio, and also find links for the fully interactive version that will run in a Safari (Mac) or Internet Explorer (Windows) browser window.
All of these are self-contained HyperStudio "applications" that you can just download and run. Each is about 10mb for the .zip file.
If you are Windows only, and would like to see these projects, send me a message here. If you've got a Mac and try these out, please let me know what you think.
