NECC Ning

I thought others might be interested in the mobile site I made for NECC. You can go to http://necc.wirenode.mobi or http://is.gd/GUz on your mobile phone or handheld. Wirenode sites are designed for every mobile phone, so it will work on any phone with a web browser (and of course looks great on an iPhone). You can view the site in Firefox but desktop Safari doesn't seem to let you view the site.

Why a mobile site? Well, you may not want to get out your laptop or it may be out of power. You might be waiting for a shuttle or just want to look important by looking at your phone. :-)

The site contains the latest Twitter updates for NECC (using the #necc hashtag), latest blog posts tagged NECC, latest NECC Flickr photos, and San Antonio Weather. There are also links to other mobile sites you might be interested in, including logins to popular social networks. All links and pages are designed for small screens and low bandwidth.

I'm hosting a poster session on Tuesday from 1-3 pm in the Tower View Lobby, Table 16 called Meet the Mobile Web: Internet in Your Hand. Stop by if you have time!

P.S. Send me a message or email tony@tonyvincent.net if you have suggestions for additions to the mobile site. I'd be happy to add them. With Wirenode, it's just a matter of logging in and clicking Publish.

Thanks so much for doing this! I may have to visit you on Tuesday. I still have so much to learn! It's been 2 years since Tucson teacher camp, and I just now installed the VersaMail. I'm really trying to avoid bringing the laptop.
